- The Wake County Taxpayers Association General Meeting is open to the general public
The Wake County Taxpayers' Association (WCTA) is a non-partisan, all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to promote efficient and responsive government at all levels of government.
Since 1994, WCTA, has been successful in keeping tax growth from happening or limited it to a small amount in most jurisdictions. We expect to continue this effort and invite you to join us.
We have had a strong presence in our community over more than a decade and have been instrumental in not only defeating issues and projects we consider wasteful or unnecessary, but, we have participated in community commissions and advisory committees where our point of view is respected and often accepted.
We are particularly concerned about effective education spending as well as the need for high performing students in our schools. The performance of our schools is improving dramatically and the financial stewardship is also getting better. But, there is still a long way to go. We must do better for the children.
We have also opposed efforts to spend millions of dollars on public arenas, sports facilities and meeting centers. While we have not won all of campaigns, we have in the process become a group to be considered when such special interest projects are proposed.
